M. Rhys Williams
Rhys Williams founded and operates the Cactus Glassworks and, through the concept of an outdoor glass studio, brings a unique and creative form of art to the public. Rhys has also pioneered the
Crystal Eternity © concept, an exciting innovation in memorialization which provides a beautiful and personal remembrance of a loved one. He has shown his art in many exhibitions including: Summer '80 Glass, Blow, & Leaded Designs Recycled Gallery, Fullerton, CA; Portcon Exhibit, San Diego, CA; One Man show, South Coast Plaza Gallery, Orange, CA; Faculty Exhibit, Lang Gallery Scripps College, Claremont, CA; "Past Glass" One Man Retrospective, San Bernardino Valley College, San Bernardino, CA.
His art can be found in many private collections as widespread as Osaka, Japan; Paris, France; the U.S. Embassy in New Dehli, India; and in a Monastery in Katmandu, Nepal. Rhys has been commissioned to create a number of commemorative awards.
Rhys Williams received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Ohio University in 1970 and his Master of Arts from Illinois State University in 1972. Since then, he has taught on the faculties of Pitzer College, Claremont, CA., Cal State Fullerton, Fullerton, CA., and Rancho Santiago College, Santa Ana, CA. He currently teaches privately from his own studio in Claremont.
